How To Sell Using Social Media… Without Pissing Everyone Off

Annoying Salesman

There's no doubt the online marketing space is changing due to social media. It's been happening for at least 5 years, but the pace of change seems to be accelerating.

There's still a time and place for the old Terminator sales copy. But more and more we're seeing content used as an "under-the-radar" marketing strategy, and hey… people actually appreciate it. What Jeff Walker calls a "sideways sales letter" is really time-compressed content marketing that culminates in an offer, right?

So now more than ever, you've got to be well-versed in copywriting, because the fundamentals of persuasion have to run throughout your content over time. It doesn't matter the form of media you use to deliver the message, it's the way the message is presented that matters.

You've probably been watching the launch of John Carlton's Simple Writing System this week. John is an old-school copywriting pro who's doing a damn good job of keeping up with the latest trends in online marketing.

But he's also smart enough to bring in other experts when needed. Let's face it… social media marketing is as specialized a discipline as pay per click or email marketing is… and to many, it's much more baffling.

That's why John asked me to be one of 7 specialized coaches for the Simple Writing System. It's my job to show you that it's not only possible to make money with a blog as your primary platform, it's possible to sell stuff in a social media environment without people hating you.

Here's how it works:

Like I said, in addition to the roster of professional copywriters that contribute to the program, there are 7 additional coaches with specialized online marketing expertise. Each of these coaches will take on 7 Simple Writing Students and help them specifically.

So, for my part, 7 students will be picked who want me as their coach. John will then put me on the "hot seat" and pull specific recommendations for these 7 people out of me… such as what you're doing right with your blog… or wrong.

I spoke with John a few minutes ago and shared a concern I have. What if more than 7 Copyblogger readers sign up, and want to get the coaching from me as a guaranteed part of the deal?

I mean, the Simple Writing System is a premier copywriting training program, and there's over 55,000 subscribers to this copywriting blog… seems like we could end up with more than 7, you know?

So what to do?

Well… John agreed that we'll find a way to accommodate every Copyblogger reader who wants the specialized coaching deal with me. All you have to do is purchase the Simple Writing System through my link, and then email me letting me know you're on board.

That's enough from me… I'll let John sell you on the rest (he should be qualified, right? :) ).

Check out all the details about the Simple Writing System.

Affiliate Marketing is a performance based sales technique used by companies to expand their reach into the internet at low costs. This commission based program allows affiliate marketers to place ads on their websites or other advertising efforts such as email distribution in exchange for payment of a small commission when a sale results.
