K-15 Biography

Colin McNeil (K-15) has from a young age had an obsession with electronic music. It was Jean Michel Jarre's early work. At age 12, Colin taught himself to play and compose. After writing a few outstanding tracks, Colin was approached by top Scottish band, '"The Time Frequency", wishing him to join the band. During this time, he had huge chart success, played many sellout gigs across the UK and were regular guests on BBC Radio One Roadshows

After leaving the band, Colin spent a lot of his time with his own projects, touring and playing venues across Scotland and Ireland. He honed his skills as a studio producer and had many releases as a solo artist in the underground scene.

After one such release (Cloudscience) was picked up by Redemption Records in Birmingham, he was persuaded to move and work full-time as the in-house studio producer. There he formed two labels (Ritual UK and Neptune Express) which received critical acclaim from many dance music magazines, in particular "IDJ", "Muzik", "Jockey Slut" with his "Everything EP" being voted one of the best of the year by multiple reviewers.

Colin then moved to London to set up his own production studio, "Kaboom! Music".  Here he started composing his own style of experimental electronic music. Field recordings of trains, birds, thunderstorms etc were manipulated and used in unusual ways to give depth and hidden meaning to tracks.
It was a refreshing change for Colin not to be tied to the "unwritten rules" of dance music, and his production took on new complexities.

His music was in high demand by labels, film companies and media agencies alike and Colin would later fuse this style with his more upfront dance music for his work with "Disciple of Groove" music label in Spain (DOG Music).

Colin then moved his studio to his home of Scotland where he began to work with "Foresight" Club night organisers who had multiple residencies in Glasgow. He wrote and produced many tracks for the tenth anniversary EP for this team as well as regularly headlining their gigs.

Colin as K-15 continues to play internationally and compose his truly unique sound for many industries and his enthusiastic fans.
