Lifetime, Paltalk to Get 'Matched' on Web Lifetime plans to launch a Web offshoot of the upcoming dating-themed reality series Matched in Manhattan that will incorporate technology from Paltalk, which enables users to host video-based chat rooms on the Internet, reports Mike Shields. The new online series � Why Hasn�t He Called? - will debut on Jan. 4 on both Paltalk�s chat platform and the recently launched myLifetime.com at 10 p.m. EST, following the premiere episode of Matched in Manhattan on Lifetime. Matched features the relationships expert husband and wife team, Matt Titus and Tamsen Fadal, who coach men and women in search of significant others. During Why Hasn�t He Called? (also the title Titus and Fadal�s soon to be released book) the couple will dole out advice via live video chats with viewers. more �
Former Cond� Nast CEO Florio, Dead at 58 Steve Florio, the colorful former chief executive of Cond� Nast Publications, died midday on Dec. 27 from complications following a heart attack he suffered before Thanksgiving, a Cond� Nast spokesperson confirmed. Florio was 58. Company chairman S.I. Newhouse Jr. issued a statement saying, �Steve was a great executive and a wonderful leader. BPA Unveils New Consumer Marketing Rules Magazine auditor BPA Worldwide announced new rules for consumer and business publications governing consumer marketing by telephone; digital editions; and audit reports. At its December meeting, the board adopted a verification method for publishers who are unable to get subscribers� consent to be recorded by phone, reports Lucia Moses. The board also voted to provide more ways for subscribers to opt out of receiving the magazine. more �
Writers Threaten Mass Picket of Golden Globes Hollywood�s glamour machine has gotten stuck between a promise that the stars will still show up at next month�s Golden Globes and a threat that 3,000 picketing writers will chase them away. Snagged on these conflicting assurances, thousands of party planners, stars, filmmakers, executives, celebrity hand-holders and others over the last few days have watched the industry�s deepening labor dispute, now in its eighth week, bring its annual movie awards race to a near-halt. Amazon Signs With WMG for Downloads Warner Music Group has begun selling DRM-free downloads through Amazon.com. Taking effect Thursday (Dec. 27), WMG has ended its MP3 holdout by offering works from its digital audio catalog to buy from Amazon MP3, the online retailer's DRM-free download store which opened for business Sept. 25. WMG has also agreed to sell a range of digital products through Amazon, including album bundles containing exclusive tracks. Lars Brandle has the story. more �
